ROYAL WHINING.

· faith,life

*emotional sigh*

So, Ya’ll know I love a good coffee house. I can easily get lost in writing or working on a project. And if they have a good sandwich?!? TUH, they’ll have to put me out.

Anyhow, something really really sweet happened the other day…

I had an early shift at work, and I knew I would want to write when I got off. Better yet, I needed to write. At this point, if I don’t write within a certain amount of time I feel off and sometimes disoriented.

I have a few coffee houses in the city that I like to visit that are cozy and inviting. But for some reason, I wanted to find a new one. (I’m just getting comfortable with the idea of exploring my “new” city, but that’s a different conversation for another day.)

You know what I did? I started talking to the Lord about what kind of atmosphere I wanted to go to. I got very specific, all the way to the comfort level of the chairs. Truly, I did.

I finished my conversation and left for work.

I generally take the same route every day, I know the landmarks, I know how much longer I have on the drive, etc. But this day, while at a stop light, God had me to take notice of a (little) plaza that was on my
left. There were a good number of shops, and at the end of the building was a coffee house. I only saw the name of the place, nothing else, so I quickly googled the location. It had amazing ratings, and it was going to be open until the evening.

(Imagine that… something I overlooked daily… Never mind, we don’t have time to go there.)

So, I said “Welp! There’s no harm in trying it out”, and when I got off work, I traveled less than ½ a mile down the road and pulled into the plaza's parking garage. I finally made it to the door of this mysterious new gem, and when I opened it… I could’ve cried.

Ya’ll the esthetic was reminiscent of a garden, plants everywhere, hanging lights, a full OPEN KITCHEN, couches, big windows, and the chairs… the chairs had thick cushions.

OH THE JOY THAT FLOODED MY SOUL!

I stood around for the longest, trying to decide where I would sit, and finally settled in on a table to get to writing.

I felt seen, I felt heard, and the tears that almost filled my eyes weren’t of sadness… but of confirmation. Apparently… God hears me when I pray.

See, the part I didn’t tell you beforehand was the fact that this particular day was a long one. I have a laundry list of things before God right now, and I mean… big things. And I hadn’t seen any movement on them. This week was also filled with opposition, and stressors that I didn't warrant.

But this little request, this little desire of my heart regarding my new writing haven… He heard me, and He honored it within minutes.

So, if that simple desire was important enough to God, don’t you think He’s pretty concerned about the big things too? Like Racquel… THE COFFEE SHOP MATTERED TO GOD! Don’t you think He already knows rent is due? Don’t you think He already knows about your broken heart? Don’t you think He’s already en route with the promises that He gave to you?

All of a sudden, I felt like a brat. Cause… wow.
My dad is… The King, and I’ve been whining like a peasant. WILD.

Let me go gather myself.

Talk soon,
Racq
