CONVOCOCO PT. 1

Whew…

WHAT A WEEK, Jesus is His name.

*loud exhale*

So, we just came out of our Holy Convocation, or as I like to call it convococo last week.

I don’t even have the words, nor can I begin to describe what we experienced during those 5 days. But I’m here to tell you that not one person left empty-handed. It was THICK in that room, okay?!?

Anyhow, this year I only had one set assignment, and that was the choir. I know chile, I joined the convococo choir… I would say voluntarily, but… nvm. I joined, okay?

Ya’ll know I am working through this confidence thing when it comes to singing out loud, and in front of people. So, joining a choir of really amazing voices and not feel intimidated or less than was a big deal for me. Beyond that, we enjoyed ourselves and it felt like a family. I honestly look forward to the next opportunity, if it comes… and I can’t believe I’m saying that out loud but here we are.

*louder exhale*

Moving on… all of my friends at the church had multiple hats to wear, or pretty significant roles to play in the flow of this event. I didn’t feel any way about that at all, I was excited for them, but I also went into planner mode in my brain. I immediately thought about all the times I’ve had to be in the driver’s seat or the coordinator during an event. My thoughts became, “How can I serve them, while they’re serving?” and even more than that, “What would I need if I were them?”.

Idk, maybe it’ll be something to discuss in therapy. But I just wasn’t okay with the idea of me being the only one able to receive and be replenished during this event. So whatever way I could, I showed up while still properly maintaing my boundaries. Ain’t that something?

So, the week before convococo, I went to Wally World. I grabbed granola bars, rice Krispies, cheez-its, gum, energy drinks, electrolytes, etc. And once I got home, I started putting these items in Ziploc bags that I could put in my purse to access quickly. I didn’t want to be that girl that opens the snack bag all loud in quiet moments… ya’ll know how we do. Point is I organized the vitamin c supplements together, the snacks together, the mints together, headache meds, all of it so everything would be in its place.

And from Thursday on, anytime somebody needed something, I was strapped and ready. I was pretty tickled by Sunday, when people knew to find me for gum or ginger mints, but that’s the position I placed myself in.

I knew my people were tired, I knew they were drained, a lot of them hadn’t eaten, just running to get the job done and thinking about themselves last. But the Lord let me be available enough to pour back into them, even if it was just a hug or a granola bar.

I mean when you think about it… my real assignment during convococo was to love on people, and to make them feel seen. And I’m just so honored that God would put me in such a position; how sweet right?

Now that being said, while this is all cute and bubbly there’s a second part to this story. So, by the time you get done reading this one, the next one will be ready for you.

Alright, see you in a bit.
Talk soon,
Racq
